My name is David Edwards. Prison number 491319. I was convicted of first-degree felony (750.316), assault with intent to rob while armed (750.89), and felony firearm(750.227B-A). I was convicted by a jury on August 4, 2005, in Detroit Michigan. I am serving a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. My court docket number is 05-001738. What I am seeking is any assistance I can get be it attorney, private investigator, conviction integrity unit, college law clinic, innocence project, or anyone willing to help look into my case and see what they have done.
First I would like to say this is a great thing happening here. Most people don't bring awareness to the injustice that happens with these cases in the state of Michigan. There is a lot going on within these cases and I thank you for even considering looking into these cases. Even it's not mine it will be someone else's. Thank you.
I feel like at no point in time did I have a fighting chance with my case. Even going thru trial I never at all received my discovery package. To this day I still don't have it. I begged my trial attorney, and my appeal attorney and sent countless motions to the courts but to no avail.
I argued how my trial attorney (Susan F. Reed) was ineffective for not interviewing my witnesses, nor did she present a defense. I begged my appeal attorney (James C. Hall) to visit me on multiple occasions to discuss my appeal. I begged him to present issues I thought should be raised but he turned me down and raised issues at the time I didn't think were but not I know they are frivolous.
I am no attorney so when someone I feel has been doing this for so long tells me something I tend to believe they know what they are talking about. Ultimately both my attorneys were disbarred for exactly what I've been arguing. They were ineffective. Then comes the jailhouse informant who I know was sent in order to claim I told him things I never did. I did tell him what they were trying to say I did.
Then coincidentally he was moved to floors with both of my codefendants. He has testified in numerous cases the same way. Lance Newman is a detective who was heavily involved in my case but was later convicted and sent to prison on a long list of charges.
He was key during the interrogation process, he sat in on most of my court appearances and was the main person the jailhouse informant was reporting to. This detective was as corrupt as they come but he and the jailhouse informant were useful tools for the prosecution. There was so much that went on in my case. Too much to put into this profile.
